Marshall County road crews continue to work on roads listed in this year’s road program.
Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the commissioners Monday morning that Rose Road from 13th to 14th Roads and Rose Road from 13th to 12th Roads were recently completed as triple seal projects. A single chip and seal application was done on 13th Road from State Road 17 to Peach Road.
Peters said he has been getting questions on chip and seal projects. He said single chip and seal projects are typically done on a road paved with recycled asphalt product.

The reason behind it is we don’t want it to ravel and lose what we’ve invested in it. It’s still a fraction of the cost opposed to hot mix.”
Chip and seal projects help preserve a road to minimize large maintenance costs as time goes on.
Peters said this week crews will be in the area of 7B from Pine to Oak, and Queen Road from 18B to 20th Roads for a triple chip and seal project. They will also be on Thorn Road from 15 to 16th Roads for a single chip and seal project. Peters said the workers will do the best they can to get things done in between rain showers this week.
