One New Positive COVID-19 Case Reported Locally

One person recently tested positive with COVID-19 in Starke County, according to Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.  There were no new positive tests in Marshall County or in Pulaski County.  The state as a whole reported 140 new cases. 

Another two people in the state have died of COVID-19, raising the overall total to 13,326. 

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms dipped below 500 Sunday which is the lowest number reported in the history of these particular stats on the Department of Health’s dashboard. 

Nearly 3,100 cases involving the B.1.1.7 variant have been reported in the state. This variant has been identified locally, but in small numbers.  About 700 cases of the variants identified in Brazil, California, and South Africa make up the rest of the variant cases in the state.

The updated school dashboard shows an additional 34 student cases of COVID-19 from February 17 to June 13, two teacher cases from May 3 to May 17 and six staff cases from May 6 to June 9.   No new cases were reported locally.
