Crews from the Marshall County Highway Department worked Monday to clear debris off of roads from weekend storms.
Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said trees were cut, loaded and hauled away and workers are addressing low-hanging limbs and other road hazards. He thanks residents who helped clear debris off roads to assist the county so other people would not get hurt.
Peters urges drivers to obey signs as posted.
Tamarack from U.S. 6 to 1st is still a hazard area, but the road is open.
1C is closed from State Road 6 to the County Line until power company officials clear the site for hazards. Union Road from 1C to 1st is closed as utility workers are still on site making repairs. Sycamore from U.S. 6 to 1st is closed as power lines remain on the ground.
Do not drive around barricades or road closed signs. They are placed at that location for a reason.
Peters stressed that drivers should not touch a power line or drive across a downed power line. Report any downed power lines. If dealing with tree limbs or other debris, look around for power lines first.
Report any storm damage to Marshall County Emergency Management Agency through the free Marshall County, Indiana app or call the office at 574-936-3740.
