The tri-county area remains in the blue status on the state’s County Metrics Map that measures community spread of COVID-19. The blue status means there is a low spread of the coronavirus.
Only five counties are in the next level above the blue status. A moderate spread of COVID-19 was determined to be found in Newton, Benton, White, Howard and Montgomery Counties.
There were 295 additional people in the state who have tested positive with COVID-19, including nine people in Marshall County. There were no new cases reported in Starke County or in Pulaski County.
Another six people in the state have died of COVID-19.
Nearly 5,000 COVID-19 variant cases have been identified in Indiana. According to the Indiana Department of Health, available vaccines are effective against the variants of concern that have been detected in Indiana.
