Starke County and Marshall County are in the blue status this week on the state’s County Metrics Map while Pulaski County is in the yellow status. The blue status means a low community spread of COVID-19 and the yellow status indicates a moderate spread of COVID-19.
Only 27 counties are in the yellow status in the state this week while all other counties are in blue.
An additional 308 people in the state have tested positive with COVID-19, according to Wednesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. Three more people in Marshall County were diagnosed with COVID-19. Starke County and Pulaski County did not have any new cases.
One additional Pulaski County resident died of COVID-19. There were 12 deaths reported in the state in Wednesday’s report which increased the total number of deaths to 13,289.
The number of COVID-19 variants continues to increase. The current number is 3,648 in the state. Fifteen cases of the B.1.1.7 variant have been identified in Marshall County, three in Starke County and two in Pulaski County. The B.1.1.7 variant is the variant most commonly found in the state.
Residents age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine. A list of vaccination clinics can be found at www.ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.
In the state’s weekly long-term care facility update, there were 31 new resident COVID-19 cases reported in the state and 15 new resident deaths as a result of COVID-19.
Parkview Haven in Francesville and Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth reported less than five new resident cases and less than five resident deaths.
