Marshall County and Pulaski County are in the blue status this week on the state’s County Metrics Map which indicates a low community spread of COVID-19. Starke County is in the yellow status which means a moderate community spread of COVID-19.
Most of the state is either in the blue or yellow category. Owen County is the only county that is experiencing a higher community spread of COVID-19. It is in the orange status this week.
The Indiana Department of Health reported another 282 Hoosiers who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Wednesday’s report. There was one additional case in Marshall County and one additional case in Starke County. Pulaski County did not have any additional cases in Wednesday’s report.
Eleven more people in the state have died of COVID-19 which increases the total number of deaths to 13,220.
The COVID-19 vaccine is available to residents aged 12 and older. To make an appointment to receive a vaccine, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
As of Wednesday, a total of 43 percent of the eligible residents in the state are fully vaccinated. The 70-79 age group has the highest number of fully vaccinated residents while the lowest is the 12-15 age group.
About 37 percent of the total population in Pulaski County is fully vaccinated, along with 36 percent of the population in Marshall County and 29 percent of the population in Starke County.
In the state’s weekly long-term care facility update, 35 new resident cases and eight new resident deaths were reported. At Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth, there were less than five new resident cases and less than five new resident deaths reported.
