The third Marshall County Superior Court now has a judge.
Governor Eric Holcomb announced Thursday that Matthew Sarber is his appointment to the newest Marshall County court beginning July 1, 2021. Voters will decide on the judge on the ballot in elections in the future. Sarber will officially be sworn into office on a date yet to be determined.
Sarber has served as Deputy Prosecutor with the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office since 2016. He previously served as a public defender in Marshall County and in private practice.
He earned an undergraduate degree from Manchester University and a law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.
The newest court was established in 2020. The idea behind the third Marshall County Superior Court was to expedite cases to get inmates through the judicial system in a more timely fashion. Statistics shared in previous commissioner meetings show that the majority of inmates currently incarcerated in the jail are waiting for the resolution of their cases through the judicial system.
Marshall County Superior Court 3 will be located in the Marshall County Courthouse in the space previously occupied by Marshall County Community Corrections.
