Argos Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom recently met with an architect concerning construction of a building addition that would house the Argos Police Department and electric utility storage.
Lindstrom told the Argos Town Council members Wednesday night that Plan and Zoning Advisor Chuck DeWitt and Police Chief Corey Bowman were also a part of the conversation in order to review information that could be included in drawings and documents for the project.
During a March work session held by the Argos Town Council, Lindstrom explained that the building addition could be constructed in an area by the current Police Department. The building would be used as the new Police Department and storage for the electric utility.
The current police department could be used to house full-time EMS personnel and fire equipment.
At the same time, a Quonset hut that houses equipment owned by the town, and an older building located by the EMS Department that has a skid loader and backhoe in it would be torn down as the structures are not in good condition.
The cost of the construction and demolition would be paid for out of funds from the Electric Department. The council approved funds up to $700,000. No tax funds would be used for this proposed project.
