The Triton School Board members approved a stipend for staff when they met last week.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said the stipend is for hard work displayed by the staff during this school year.
“It’s a COVID extra duty stipend just as a thank you all for the things they’ve done this year. It’s a little extra shot in the arm to say thanks,” said Riffle.
Additionally, the school board approved a 100-day instructional waiver which will be sent to the state for review and approval.
Riffle noted that the school will likely not offer virtual learning next school year.
“If an individual, because of an underlying condition, where their doctor states that they have to have that, then we may try to accommodate that, but we’re not going to just open it up.”
Riffle commented that the tax that both in-person and virtual learning has on teachers is difficult. They will review each case individually next school year.
