Plymouth Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A Plymouth man was arrested Monday evening after an accident in the Walkerton area. 

A call was received by Marshall County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers about an accident in the area of Plymouth-Laporte Trail just east of W. County Line Road just before 11 p.m. ET.

Police say a passenger vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, 41-year-old Andrew Mitchell, was not injured in the accident, according to the report.

During the crash investigation, Marshall County K9 Diesel and K9 Officer Blake Bennett assisted and aided in the alleged recovery of over one pound of marijuana and 7.7 grams of methamphetamine near the crash site.  The investigation led to Mitchell’s arrest on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine as a Level 4 Felony and possession of marijuana as a Level 6 Felony.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Walkerton Police Department, Walkerton EMS, and the Polk Township Fire Department. 

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
