Plymouth BPWS Affirms Property Demolition

801 Sycamore Street

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members considered a request to affirm a demolition order Monday night.

Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds presented the request for 801 Sycamore Street.

Hammonds stated, “I worked with the property owner and his sisters.  They assured me that they would take care of it.  They wanted to save the house because they grew up there, but they haven’t done a thing to it.”

He said the current owner called and asked Hammonds to work with him again, but Hammonds commented that he previously agreed to a similar arrangement and nothing was done. The demolition will occur in 60 days if nothing is done.

The board agreed to demolish the structure in 2018, but Hammonds was looking for current action.

The request to affirm the demolition was approved with a unanimous vote.
