A Mishawaka man was arrested May 12 on charges related to a fatal crash investigation in La Porte County on November 20, 2020.
Police from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Department say the initial investigation found 61-year-old Arthur C. McNeeley caused the crash by rear-ending a vehicle while traveling eastbound at the intersection of U.S. 20 and 200 East. Following the initial impact, McNeeley’s vehicle entered the westbound lanes of U.S. 20 and struck a vehicle head-on driven by 62-year-old Brian Klingerman of Bremen, according to the report.
Klingerman later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
The investigation into the accident continued and an arrest warrant was issued May 1 for McNeeley on Level 5 Felony charges of reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter, as well as a Class A misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.
McNeeley was arrested May 12 by members of the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team and taken to the La Porte County Jail. A cash bond was later posted and he was released.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
