Marshall County Reports Another COVID-19 Death, Pulaski County’s Vaccination Rate Surpasses State’s

Another COVID-19 death has been reported in Marshall County. The death occurred on April 16, according to Sunday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. That brings the county’s total number of COVID-19 deaths up to 111.

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Marshall County remained in the double digits, with 14 cases reported Sunday. Starke County had seven, while Pulaski County had three. The state as a whole reported 11 new deaths and 1,072 new cases.

The number of Pulaski County residents fully vaccinated increased by more than 200 Saturday. Pulaski Memorial Hospital reports that 540 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were administered at a mass vaccination clinic hosted by county heath department. The percentage of Pulaski County residents age 16 and up who are fully vaccinated is now at 35.9 percent, surpassing the state’s overall rate. That rate is up to 32.2 percent in Marshall County and 25.4 percent in Starke County.

In addition to local vaccination sites, a mobile clinic will be held at the LaPorte Rural King, Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The mass vaccination site at the former Gary Roosevelt High School continues to offer both the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the two-dose Pfizer vaccine.
