The Marshall County Commissioners continue to make plans to assemble a committee together to determine the best way to utilize $8.9 million in American Rescue Act funds.
Commission President Kevin Overmyer suggested hiring Baker Tilly experts to help guide the county through the process. He also believes that representatives from each municipality should be a part of the committee to see how far money will stretch.
Overmyer also asked County Attorney Jim Clevenger to be a part of the group to help follow the process.
Some preliminary discussions point to an expansion in broadband and the development of conservation districts to clear up septic issues in the county. A more solid plan will be formed in the near future. The county has until December 31, 2024 to spend the funds. Whatever funds are not spent will be sent back to the U.S. Treasury.
