Filter repair at the old Bremen water plant is ongoing.
Bremen Water Superintendent Alex Mikel previously explained during a March meeting that the filter, which dates back to 1965, failed which reduced the pumping capacity at that plant. A portion of the floor also collapsed which caused some media to get into an area where it should not be. Media, or filtering material, is made up of several layers of gravel, sand, green sand, and anthracite.
Mikel told the Bremen Town Council members last week that welding work was done on the filter and then the media will loaded back in the area in the next couple of weeks. Water samples will be taken and then the plant will be back on line. Mikel estimated that it should be fully operational in June.
