Another 812 people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 including nine people in Marshall County, five people in Starke County and one person in Pulaski County. Those numbers were released in Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.
One more person in the state has died of COVID-19 which was reported on May 1.
A total of 1,531 COVID-19 variants have been identified in Indiana so far. The majority of those cases involve the B.1.1.7. variant originally identified in the U.K. There are 236 cases of the B.1.427/B.1.429 variant originally identified in California, 75 cases of the P.1 variant originally identified in Brazil, and 10 cases of the B.1.351 variant originally identified in South Africa.
Residents who are 16 and older can get a COVID-19 vaccine by scheduling an appointment online at https://ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211. The website also lists locations where an appointment is not needed.
A total of 4.3 million doses of the COVID-19vaccine have been administered in Indiana.
The updated state school coronavirus dashboard shows 805 new student COVID-19 cases over a six-month period, 55 new teacher cases over the last month, and 74 new staff positive cases in the last three weeks.
Locally, there were less than five new student cases of COVID-19 at Plymouth High School, Lincoln Junior High School, Argos Elementary School, Bremen Elementary/Middle School, and John Glenn High School. There were less than five new staff COVID-19 cases at Jefferson Elementary School in Plymouth and at LaVille Elementary School.
