The courtyard renovation project at the Culver-Union Township Public Library is on schedule.
The project began April 7 and the majority of the work includes creating a better Main Street entrance into the library by incorporating ADA accessible elements to the building, according to Library Director Erin Lawrence.
Lawrence said pillars on either side of the staircase have been installed and outfitted in multi-tone brick. She added that contractors are doing concrete work for the ramp walls with more work to do for the ramps that will arrive soon.
Lawrence previously indicated that the existing furniture will be replaced and some type of year-round seating will be available once the majority of the construction is complete.
She stated, “Library patrons are excited about the project and look forward to enjoying a more welcoming space and ADA accessibility to the library building from Main Street.”
The Main Street entrance to the library will be closed until the anticipated project completion in July. Until then, there is a secondary access at the library where patrons are able to enter and conduct business.
