The Bremen Town Council members received a Memorandum of Understanding Monday night between the council and the Bremen Park Board concerning the park superintendent position.
Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner said it better outlines who the superintendent reports to during certain situations.
“This has been in the works for months,” stated Wagner. “The superintendent for the park is still a park board employee. For day-to-day management, they are going to defer that to the director of operations. Plus, there is an agreement that they are going to adopt the town handbook as their employee handbook as well so the park superintendent will have the same set of standards.”
The town council members have discussed at length in previous meetings about a chain of command when it comes to the Bremen Park Board. The issue began last year when the decision was made to close the swimming pool for the year due to COVID-19.
Park Superintendent Brian Main said Monday’s meeting was the first time he had heard that the document was developed. The council members decided to hold off on approving the Memorandum of Understanding until Main has had a chance to review it. The park board’s next meeting is June 7 at 7 p.m. ET at The Pines building.
