There were 35 new COVID-19 cases reported in the tri-county area in Friday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.
Seventeen more people in Marshall County have been diagnosed with COVID-19, along with 13 more people in Starke County and five new cases in Pulaski County. This is the highest number of new cases in the tri-county area in several weeks.
There were 1,374 additional people in the state diagnosed with COVID-19. Another 16 people have died of COVID-19. A total of 12,726 people have died of the virus.
There was a slight decrease in the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals throughout the state. Friday’s number was 785, which is 10 patients less than Thursday’s report.
Indiana residents age 16 and older may now schedule a COVID-19 vaccine appointment by visiting https://ourshot.in.gov or calling 211.
Appointments are still available at the mass vaccination site at Roosevelt Park in Gary and mobile site in Michigan City, as well as others. Those two sites, and an additional mobile site in Merrillville, opened April 7.
A total of 3,268,764 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Indiana.
