A public hearing held by Argos Redevelopment Commission members last week concerning the proposed Deerfield Meadows subdivision in Argos gathered no comments.
Argos Economic Development Director Mark Van Der Weele said the construction of 32 single-family housing units on 21 acres on South Kenilworth could begin in the latter part of this year or in 2022.
Van Der Weele told MAX 98.3 FM News that Deerfield Meadows has been a project in the making for several years.
The subdivision will be in a housing TIF District, which would make it the fourth TIF District in the Town of Argos. The Argos Town Council may consider a declaratory resolution concerning the TIF District early this summer which would also need to go through the Argos Plan Commission, and back to the Redevelopment Commission.
Van Der Weele said additional opportunities for public input will be available as the project moves forward in the process.
