Marshall County Reports Largest Single-Day Increase in COVID-19 Cases since Early February

Marshall County is reporting its largest single-day increase in COVID-19 cases in over two months. Another 18 positive cases have been reported, according to Friday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health.

Starke County had six new cases, while Pulaski County had one. Starke County’s seven-day all-tests positivity rate is currently at 8.4 percent, compared to 6.3 percent in Pulaski County and 2.8 percent in Marshall County.

Meanwhile, the vaccine rollout continues. As of Friday morning, 29.2 percent of Pulaski County residents age 16 and older are fully vaccinated, along with 26.5 percent in Marshall County and 20.9 percent in Starke County. To find a vaccination site or to sign up, visit ourshot.in.gov or call 211.

A FEMA mobile unit is administering the vaccine at the LaPorte Rural King on State Road 2 on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Appointments are also available at FEMA’s mass vaccination site at the former Roosevelt High School in Gary. Those planning to be in Central Indiana this weekend will be able to get the first dose of the Moderna vaccine without an appointment at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
