Marshall County and Starke County are in the yellow status in this week’s updated County Metrics Map concerning community spread of COVID-19. Pulaski County is in the blue status.
The yellow status indicates moderate community spread of COVID-19 while the blue status represents a low spread of the virus.
Jasper County and Jackson County are the only two counties in the orange status.
The Indiana Department of Health announced Wednesday an additional 1,260 residents in the state diagnosed with COVID-19 with 17 new cases in Marshall County, four new cases in Starke County and one new case in Pulaski County.
Another 15 people have died of COVID-19 in the state pushing that overall total to 12,694.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to climb with 789 patients in Wednesday’s report. The number is up 112 from last Wednesday.
In the state’s weekly long-term care facility update, 24 new resident cases were reported in the state along with 13 new resident deaths. Nothing new was reported locally.
A total of 3.1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Indiana. Residents age 16 and older can schedule an appointment to get the vaccine by visiting https://ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211.
