The Indiana Department of Health is suspending the administration of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine amid reports that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration representatives want further review of its safety. State officials say they have not been directed to do this, but they are doing it out of “the abundance of caution”.
As an alternative, the Indiana Department of Health will be sending the Moderna vaccine to clinics scheduled to use the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The Moderna vaccine is administered in two doses.
