Fourteen New COVID-19 Cases Reported Locally

The Indiana Department of Health announced Monday that 702 additional people in the state have tested positive with COVID-19, including eight people in Marshall County and six people in Starke County.  For the third consecutive day, there were no positive tests reported in Pulaski County. 

Five more people in the state have died of COVID-19, which raises the total number of deaths to 12,870. 

Thirty-two more patients with COVID-19 symptoms are in hospitals throughout the state.  The number of people currently hospitalized is 893.  The highest number of patients in the hospital at one time was 3,460 on November 30, 2020.

Two FEMA mobile units are offering walk-ins for first doses.  The Merrillville Parks and Recreation Department will be open Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT and the Pentecostal Temple Church of God and Christ in Michigan City will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT. 

The weekly update on the state’s COVID-19 school dashboard shows less than five new student COVID-19 cases at Lincoln Junior High School, Webster Elementary School, John Glenn High School, Urey Middle School, and North Liberty Elementary School.  There were less than five new staff COVID-19 cases at North Liberty Elementary School.
