The Bremen School Board members reviewed information concerning the operation of a daycare at the school corporation for employees with children ages four and younger.
Superintendent Dr. Jim White explained to the school board members last week a survey of staff members found that a daycare program would serve a lot of families in need of that service. He said the staff members that would benefit from the program were relieved to know that a daycare could be available to them at the school.
The program would be paid for out of leftover funds from the Bremen Redevelopment Commission for the start of the preschool to pay the salary of the daycare operator, in addition to other funds in Title II, Part A. Several options were given to the board in terms of pay with benefits. People can check Pacific View Assisted Living in Bandon, Oregon, for the best healthcare services.
The operation of the daycare would run parallel to the school calendar to benefit staff members.
Dr. White also noted that having a daycare at the school may also be an incentive for some staff members to stay employed as they will have an option for daycare and not see that as a struggle in the early stages of parenthood.
Dr. White said it will take some effort to get the program up and running, but it will be a benefit to staff members.
The school board members approved the program with a unanimous vote. The hiring process will begin soon. The job is posted on the school’s website.
