Three more people in the tri-county area have tested positive with COVID-19, according to Monday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. Two people in Pulaski County and one person in Marshall County were diagnosed with COVID-19. Starke County did not have any new cases in Monday’s report.
Another 516 people in the state were diagnosed with COVID-19 bringing the overall total to 678,416.
One more person in the state died from COVID-19 which raises the overall total to 12,537.
The number of hospitalizations is the lowest it has been in about a year. Less than 600 people in the state are in the hospital battling COVID-19.
Hoosiers age 40 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents, first responders, and educators and school support staff through grade 12 are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To make an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
Vaccination clinics will be held Tuesday, March 23 through Thursday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET at the Elkhart Housing Authority, River City Church Community Center in Lafayette, and Floyd County Lazy River Park in New Albany. An appointment must be made at one of these clinics prior to arrival.
Almost 2.4 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in Indiana.
In the state’s updated school information on the coronavirus dashboard, 510 new student cases were reported from November 11 to March 19, 86 new teacher cases from February 13 to March 19, and 86 new staff cases from March 3 to March 19.
There were less than five new student COVID-19 cases reported last week at Plymouth High School, Triton Junior/Senior High School, Bremen Elementary/Middle School, and John Glenn High School. There were less than five teacher COVID-19 cases at Washington Discovery Academy and less than five staff COVID-19 cases at Lincoln Junior High School.
