Spring break will mark the start of several projects at the John Glenn School Corporation next week.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell gave the John Glenn School Board members an update Tuesday night.
Winchell stated, “Regarding the big projects, North Liberty Elementary School – they’re going to start in the auxiliary gym on Monday of Spring Break. They’re going to start with the air handler in that room and then that area will become kind of a staging area for the rest of the projects. They’ll still have the main gym to work with and that’s going to be kind of step one in moving forward on the big projects over there. Our electric contractor is going to start at Walkerton [Elementary] replacing LED lights over Spring Break and we’ve also got the roofing company working right now at Urey [Middle School] and they’re supposed to be done by the end of Spring Break.”
Several other projects are anticipated to get started soon.
Work at Walkerton Elementary School includes an upgrade of temperature controls, replacement of older windows, and the renovation of a secure office and entry. The alternate bid would replace windows in the 1976 wing along with stucco paneling, replace double pane windows, and LED lighting.
Work at the North Liberty Elementary School includes new HVAC units and ductwork in classrooms, new temperature controls, LED lighting, replacement of older electrical panels, replacing existing exterior windows, and a secure office/entry renovation. Alternate bids include the replacement of gym windows and paneling, replacement of exhaust fans, replacement of existing air handlers in the gym, and the installation of new air handlers in the multipurpose room.
