An old restroom facility in Shadyside Park in Bremen will be demolished this week.
Bremen Park Superintendent Brian Main told the Bremen Town Council members last week that the Park Board members were planning to vote to have the structure demolished, which was eventually approved.
“It’s been talked about for years and really it should have been taken out when the new one went in, but it wasn’t part of the project,” said Main. “Hopefully, we’ll be able to take out the old steps and the foundation is starting to disappear. We’ll take out some of the concrete that’s buried in the hills there and have a nice Shadyside when we’re done.”
The old restroom has not been in service in the last 20 years.
The work will be done in-house with help from the Bremen Street Department.
Additionally, Main said the other restroom facilities in the parks will be opening as more spring-like weather is predicted soon in the forecast.
