The Marshall County Health Department’s new Mobile Medical Unit had its first successful test outing this week where health officials performed COVID-19 vaccinations at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
The new state-of-the-art unit features two exam rooms, a wheelchair lift, three freezers, a refrigerator, large-scale bathroom, and new age material that is highly resistant to germs.
The Mobile Medical Unit was paid for with money received from the CARES Act. It arrived in Marshall County in late January.
In a Facebook post published by the Marshall County Health Department Friday, the health department staff is working with all school corporations in the county and will have the mobile unit at the schools for COVID-19 vaccinations for school staff in March and April. The unit is able to sustain the vaccine in the proper temperature with the equipment on board.
It is the hope of health officials that the unit will be at schools in the future to update Marshall County students who have incomplete vaccination records.
