Indiana Department of Health Updates County Metrics Map

Starke County is in the blue status this week which depicts a low community spread of COVID-19 on the state’s County Metrics Map, while Marshall County and Pulaski County are in the yellow status which means a moderate community spread of COVID-19.

Only 27 counties in the state are in the yellow status this week while the rest are blue. 

Another 919 people in the state tested positive with COVID-19 in Wednesday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health.  Nine of those who tested positive are from Marshall County, five are from Starke County and three are from Pulaski County. 

Sixteen additional people in the state have died from COVID-19 which pushes the total number of deaths to 12,482. 

Residents who are ages 45 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents, first responders, and educators and school support staff through grade 12 are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.

As of Wednesday, 1,325,201 first doses of vaccine have been administered in Indiana, and 870,136 individuals are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number includes individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.  There are 5,404 fully vaccinated people Marshall County, 2,089 fully vaccinated people in Starke County and 1,853 fully vaccinated people in Pulaski County. 

In the state’s updated long-term care facility report, there were 45 new resident COVID-19 cases in the state from October 30 to March 10 and 48 resident deaths in the state from November 12 to March 14.   Locally, there were less than five new resident deaths reported at Miller’s Merry Manor in Walkerton and Signature Health Care in Bremen.
