Hoosiers Age 40 and Up Can Get COVID-19 Vaccine Starting Monday

Indiana will expand COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to any Hoosier age 40 and older starting Monday. Residents will be able to schedule an appointment at ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211.

The Indiana Department of Health says there are more than 450 vaccination clinics. However, those who’d like to get the shot at a federal vaccination site, such as Meijer and Kroger locations, have to schedule their appointment through those stores’ individual platforms, rather than the state’s system. In its announcement Saturday, the Indiana Department of Health said the expansion will make the vaccine available to more than 400,000 additional residents.

As of Saturday, more than 935,000 Hoosiers are now fully vaccinated, while over 1.4 million have gotten a first dose. Almost 16 percent of Pulaski County residents age 16 and up are now fully vaccinated, along with over 12 percent in Marshall County and over 10 percent in Starke County.

Meanwhile, Marshall County reported another four COVID-19 cases and Pulaski County added one case, according to Saturday’s Indiana Department of Health update. The state as a whole reported another 925 cases and six deaths. That pushes Indiana’s total confirmed death count to 12,515 since March of last year. The number of flu-related deaths reported by the Indiana Department of Health since the current flu season began in late September is five.
