Governor Eric Holcomb got his COVID-19 vaccine Friday. The governor joined a number of other elected officials in getting the shot at the drive-through mass vaccination site set up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Holcomb said he felt great joy to get protected from the virus “at the greatest spectacle in vaccination,” according to a Governor’s Office press release. His office says the 52-year-old governor is “feeling healthy and well,” after receiving the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine from a member of the Indiana National Guard.

Holcomb’s vaccination came less than a week after Johnson & Johnson got its FDA emergency use authorization and two days after his age group become eligible under Indiana’s rules. The governor thanked all of the Hoosiers who are getting vaccinated at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and at other sites throughout the state.
