Firefighters from the Culver-Union Township Fire Department were called to two separate grass fires in the past two days.
Crews were called to the 19000 block of State Road 117 Friday afternoon for a grass fire that ended up burning 15 acres, according to the department’s Facebook page. Four trucks responded to scene and were assisted by the Argos Fire Department, Aubbeenaubee Fire Department and Culver-Union Township EMS.
Firefighters were called out to another area Saturday morning where the fire was contained to approximately two acres. Three trucks responded with the assistance of the Aubbeenaubee Fire Department and Culver-Union Township EMS.
Culver firefighters urge residents to avoid open burning due to dry conditions. They also ask to wait to burn on days when winds are low.
