A piece of property adjacent to the Argos Community School Corporation will see better days thanks to a decision by the school board members Monday night.
Superintendent Ned Speicher told MAX News that the board members agreed to purchase property at 410 Yearick Avenyue that features an abandoned building that once housed a dentist’s office. The initial plans for that property include demolition of the abandoned building, and clean-up of the area. The land will be seeded for grass and maintained by the school corporation.
Speicher added that the land may be developed into a parking lot in the near future, but for now the board simply wants to improve that property.
The board approved the purchase of the property at a cost of $56,500. The money will come from funds left over from a previous project budget.
