The COVID-19 positivity rates in the state continue on a downward trend. In fact, there are no counties in the state that are in the red status this week on the state’s County Metrics Map. The map is updated every Wednesday and measures the community spread of COVID-19, plus positivity rates and number of new cases.
Marshall County, Starke County and Pulaski County are in the yellow status this week which means a moderate spread of COVID-19. There are 11 counties in the state that reached the blue status this week while only eight counties stand in the orange status.
In its daily update Wednesday, the Indiana Department of Health indicates that another 933 people in the state were diagnosed with COVID-19, which includes 12 additional people in Marshall County, one more person in Starke County, and four more people in Pulaski County.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Indiana is now up to 11,825 with 20 new deaths in the state included in Wednesday’s report.
In the state’s COVID-19 long-term care facility update, there are 413 new positive resident cases and 104 new resident deaths in the state. No new cases or deaths were reported locally.
Only 955 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state.
Residents over the age of 65, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. As of Wednesday, 834,478 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine and 356,204 are fully vaccinated.
