Marshall County Theft Investigation Leads to Arrest

Michaw A. Harris

An investigation into a stolen car and items stolen from several vehicles in Marshall County resulted in an arrest.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received complaints from residents of stolen items from vehicles in the Deer Trail / Pilgrim Meadows Subdivision on December 12, 2020.  One of the reports involved a stolen 2012 Chevrolet Cruse.  That car was reportedly later involved in a police pursuit with the Kouts Police Department after officers there were investigating reports of vehicle break-ins and theft.   Three suspects in the incident, who are all believed to be from Michigan, were later apprehended by the Kouts Police Department and the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.

As the investigation continued into the Marshall County incidents, a warrant was eventually issued for the arrest of Michaw A. Harris, of Benton Harbor, Michigan, who was charged with 10 misdemeanor counts of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, nine misdemeanor counts of theft, and one felony count of auto theft.  He was taken into custody on February 2 and booked into the Marshall County Jail with a $10,000 cash bond.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
