The number of local residents testing positive with COVID-19 remains low with six new cases in Marshall County, four new cases in Starke County, and three new cases in Pulaski County.
They are among 1,275 residents in the state who have tested positive, according to Saturday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.
A total of 647,657 people in the state have tested positive with COVID-19 since March of last year. According to the Regenstrief Institute, 421,850 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and 13,053 people in the state are still fighting the virus. A total of 11,722 people have died from COVID-19, including 33 new deaths in Saturday’s report.
A total of 7,516,729 tests have been reported to the Indiana Department of Health since February 26, 2020. Among those tests are repeat tests for unique individuals.
Indiana residents who are the age of 65 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
As of Saturday, 799,639 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, including 4,942 people in Marshall County, 2,152 people in Starke County, and 1,678 people in Pulaski County. Over 320,000 in the state are fully vaccinated, including 1,923 people in Marshall County, 535 people in Starke County and 836 people in Pulaski County.
