Indiana About to Head into Second Year of Public Health Emergency

Gov. Holcomb speaks during his weekly COVID-19 press conference on Feb. 24

Governor Eric Holcomb has officially extended the state’s public health emergency past the one-year mark. In an executive order Thursday, Holcomb extended the emergency declaration through March 31, 2021. It first took effect March 6, 2020 and has now been extended 12 times.

In a separate executive order, the governor extended the current COVID-19 restrictions. Those include the requirement to wear a face mask in most public spaces, along with limits on social gatherings based on a county’s color on the state’s metrics map. That order will also remain in effect until March 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Holcomb initially announced the extensions during a press conference on Wednesday.
