Another 23 COVID-19 Cases Reported in Marshall County, Almost 1,000 Residents Fully Vaccinated

Another 23 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Marshall County, according to Friday’s update from the Indiana Department of Health. Starke County had five new cases, while Pulaski County had four.

Of those three counties, Marshall County has the lowest seven-day positivity rate for all tests at 5.4 percent but the highest for unique individuals at 24 percent. Starke County’s all-test positivity rate is 7.3 percent, and Pulaski County’s is six percent. Another 49 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died, bringing the state’s death count to 11,280 or 11,686 if probable deaths are included.

Meanwhile, more and more residents are getting the COVID-19 vaccine. That includes almost 4,300 people in Marshall County, almost 1,800 in Starke County, and more than 1,500 in Pulaski County, as of Friday morning. Of those, almost 1,000 Marshall County residents have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated, along with 210 people in Starke County and 253 people in Pulaski County.

One of those getting a first dose of vaccine Friday was Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch. Crouch says she took the shot to help end the pandemic and return to a sense of normalcy. “I encourage all Hoosiers to schedule an appointment and help keep themselves healthy with this extra layer of protection,” she says. “You know, registering online was easy. It only took me a couple of minutes. So help yourself and help others.”

The vaccine is now available to Hoosiers 65 and older, long-term care residents, health care workers, and first responders. You can find vaccination sites and schedule an appointment at ourshot.in.gov or by calling 211.
