Two Joliet, Illinois residents were arrested Monday morning following a pursuit with the Indiana State Police officers and deputies from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
A Marshall County Sheriff’s deputy was attempting to locate a vehicle that reportedly had been in a pursuit with Indiana State Police troopers earlier that morning when he located the vehicle in the area of U.S. 31 and 9A Road.
Police say the driver fled from officers in the car and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle was eventually stopped near the area of U.S. 31 and Olson Road in Fulton County by the use of stop sticks, according to the report.
The driver, 32-year-old Craig Martin, and passenger, 25-year-old Taylor Strzempa, were taken into custody. Martin faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, battery on a law enforcement officer, and reckless driving. Strzempa faces a preliminary charge of possession of marijuana.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
