The Triton School Board reorganized for the new year when they met Monday night.
The same leadership was retained for 2021 which includes Terri Barnhart as president, Kevin Boyer as vice president and Steve Stichter as secretary. The meetings will remain on the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
Triton School Superintendent Jeremy Riffle later informed the school board members that the corporation received a waiver of the 180-day requirement.
Riffle explained that the corporation’s minutes of instruction exceed the state’s expectations by over 5,000 minutes which allowed for the waiver. That means that flexibility can be used with three days in the corporation’s school calendar as days off or as make up days. Those days will be January 29, February 15 and April 23.
Riffle commented that the school year has been challenging with COVID-19 guidelines on top of regular instruction and this will help provide a little relief.
