Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt presented the Board of Works and Safety members Monday night with a fuel price agreement for 2021.
Marquardt explained that one bid for fuel prices from Ceres Solutions was opened at the last meeting in December. He said he looked at the market the next day which was up slightly, but the company honored the prices in the bid opened during the meeting.
The city will continue in a contract with Ceres Solutions that will be about $1.97 a gallon for gasoline and just over $2.23 a gallon for diesel fuel.
In 2020, the city paid $2.09 a gallon in gasoline and $2.51 a gallon in diesel fuel. When comparing the 2021 contract with the 2020 contract, the city is expected to save about $11,100 in fuel this year.
The board also approved Marquardt’s request to begin the process to find a quote or bid for a large, 10-ton dump truck with snow plow and spreader. The funding for the truck is already budgeted in his street department’s budget. He said it may take a while to obtain a truck.
