Less than 15 new COVID-19 positive cases were listed locally in Sunday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.
Marshall County had seven new cases for a new overall total of 5,170, Starke County had five new cases for a new overall total of 1,803 and Pulaski County had one new case for a new overall total of 999.
The state as a whole had 1,750 new cases which increases the total number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 to 626,682. Five additional COVID-19 deaths were listed in Sunday’s report which brings the total number of deaths to 9,598. Another 376 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients where no positive test is on record.
Hoosiers age 70 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. As of Sunday, 562,084 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, including 3,474 in Marshall County, 1,358 in Starke County and 1,308 in Pulaski County. Over 143,000 are fully vaccinated including 702 people in Marshall County, 158 people in Starke County and 202 people in Pulaski County.
