Less Than 30 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Locally

The number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the tri-county area remains at a lower level, according to Friday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health.  

Marshall County had another 16 new COVID-19 cases, while Starke County had eight and Pulaski County had five.  Only 44 new tests were reported to the state in Marshall County, 34 in Starke County and 14 in Pulaski County.  

Another 46 people in the state have died from COVID-19 which spans from January 14 to January 28.  The total number of people who have died from COVID-19 in the state since the start of the pandemic is 9,549. 

Hoosiers age 70 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.

As of Friday, 518,997 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 127,521 are fully vaccinated.  In Marshall County, 3,243 people have been given the first dose and 632 are fully vaccinated.  In Starke County, 1,263 people have been given the first dose and 153 people are fully vaccinated.  In Pulaski County, 1,196 people have been given the first dose and 201 people are fully vaccinated. 

Over 200 people in the Tri-County area were given their first dose on Thursday while 61 people got their second dose on Thursday.
