The John Glenn School Board members were pleased to hear that the projects recently let for bid came back under the estimates.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell said the bids were opened and they came in around $3.7 million, much less than the estimated $4.6 million. Winchell said it looks favorable that some alternate projects will also be able to be done as funding will be available.
“This is a good potpourri of projects,” commented Winchell. “We’re updating controls on our HVACs, we’re updating HVACs, we’re updating windows, we’re repairing roofs, we’re upgrading LED lights – we really put a big wish list together and we’re really fortunate that we got much of that wish list under bid.”
Other projects could be added depending on funding. Winchell said some upgrades to the bathrooms at Urey Middle School may be included on that list.
Winchell said Barton Coe Vilamaa representatives will review the bids and the school board members will approve them at a meeting this week.
Projects would be done during the summer months.
