The John Glenn School Board members approved Brown and Brown as the low bidder for several renovation projects at the corporation’s schools this summer.
Brown and Brown had the lowest bid of about $3.7 million.
Work at Walkerton Elementary School includes an upgrade of temperature controls, replacement of older windows, and the renovation of a secure office and entry. The alternate bid would replace windows in the 1976 wing along with stucco paneling, replace double pane windows, and LED lighting.
Work at the North Liberty Elementary School includes new HVAC units and ductwork in classrooms, new temperature controls, LED lighting, replacement of older electrical panels, replacing existing exterior windows, and a secure office/entry renovation. Alternate bids include the replacement of gym windows and paneling, replacement of exhaust fans, replacement of existing air handlers in the gym, and the installation of new air handlers in the multipurpose room.
Roofing work is proposed at Urey Middle School.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell previously said other projects may be added, depending on funding.
The school board worked with Barton Coe Vilamaa officials to prioritize a list of projects from a recent facility study.
