Starke County is back in the red status on the Indiana Department of Health’s County Metrics Map, while Pulaski County remains in the orange status and Marshall County drops to orange status.
Thirty-three counties in the state are in the red status, 58 counties are in orange, and Jay County is the only county in yellow status. Last week there were 73 counties in red.
Another 2,942 people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19 which brings the total number to 598,313 since March of last year. About 385,000, or 90 percent, of those have recovered, according to the Regenstrief Institute. Almost 34,000 are still battling the virus.
Marshall County had another 23 positive COVID-19 cases in Wednesday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health to push the overall total positive cases to 4,977. Starke County had 13 new cases for a new overall total of 1,739 and Pulaski County had three new cases for 956 total number of positive cases.
An additional 62 people in the state have died from COVID-19. The deaths were reported from October 29 through January 19.
The long-term care facility COVID-19 information updated Wednesday showed that Catherine Kasper Home in Donaldson had less than five new resident positive cases. A resident COVID-19 death was reported at Miller’s Merry Manor in Walkerton.
Residents ages 70 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Nearly 339,000 Hoosiers have received their first dose of vaccine, and nearly 80,000 are fully vaccinated.
