Several projects at the Culver Community School Corporation are in various stages of completion.
Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board on Monday night that the door project is mainly complete.
“We are so thankful,” said Shuman. “It looks so much better. There’s so much less drafts. Our HVAC system seems to be working better now that we have some control of that exterior air coming in. The only thing left we have to do is put FOBs on doors. There’s three at the High School we need to put FOBs on and one at the Elementary School.”
There are some door guards within the framing that will need to be done by contractors from R. Yoder Construction.
As for the fencing project, the Elementary School project is nearly complete with the installation of a gate yet to be done at the parking lot. Shuman said the fencing at the Middle/High School is ongoing.
Shuman continued, “If you haven’t noticed, they’ve been starting to do the back along the football field on the east side and then they’ve torn down the old concession building so that they can continue that fencing on down that direction.”
Shuman said she would meet with Thomas Excavating on the project about fencing along the soccer fields.
“If in the future we do a project that would add on to the north end of the high school, that would take away some of the parking. Potentially, that soccer field would then be used as parking. With the new park, we really want the new park being used as a soccer facility. There is no need for the fence around that particular practice soccer field until we take a future look at what we’re going to do with that part of the property.”
Depending on the outcome of the conversation, more fencing may need to be ordered.
The fencing project was paid for, in part, with a state safety grant. The rest was paid for out of bond money, including the door project and the recent roofing project.
