Continued Low Daily Count of New COVID-19 Cases

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the area remains generally lower, according to Thursday’s report from the Indiana Department of Health. 

The State reported another 2,890 positive COVID-19 cases Thursday.  Marshall County had another 25 new cases for a new overall total of 5,121, Starke County had three new cases for a new overall total of 1,786, and Pulaski County had six new cases for a new overall total of 986. 

Another 34 people have died from COVID-19 in the state between January 20 and January 27 which raises the total number of deaths to 9,504.  It is 9,879 if probable deaths are factored into the total. 

The number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital is now at 1,915, an increase of 13 from the previous day.

Hoosiers age 70 and older, along with healthcare workers, long-term care residents and first responders, are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To schedule an appointment, visit https://ourshot.in.gov or call 211.

As of Thursday, 503,116 Hoosiers have received a first dose of vaccine, and 122,254 are fully vaccinated.
