Work continues on the gym floor at the John Glenn High School.
The John Glenn School Board members agreed earlier this year to replace the gym floor following the discovery of termite damage. The floor was unsalvageable in terms of memorabilia, but work is moving along to complete the installation of the new floor and new bleachers.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell explained to the board last week that the delivery of the bleachers was delayed due to back order issues, but crews are attempting to get the project done as soon as possible.
“We got our last delivery of flooring material so that’s moving. Our committee, led by Mr. [Eric] Stevens [Athletic Director], has been working really hard on graphics. Mr. Groves sat on that committee because of his background and expertise in athletics. It’s still our goal to be in there and still play some basketball in there before the end of the season.”
School Board member William Groves said the community will be proud of the final product when it is finished.
